Our Unique Collection

Just like the complicated ecosystem that makes up the desert around us, the history of our region is made up of many different, interconnected elements. There’s no one way to view the story of the Amargosa Valley, merely different lenses, each focusing on a separate piece of the tale.

The Shoshone Museum’s collection covers all the facets of life in the Amargosa Basin, from the prehistoric to today. From the geologic forces that literally shaped our land, to the mega fauna that roamed the Ice Age, to our earliest human inhabitants, to the pioneering emigrants of the 19th and 20th centuries – the Shoshone Museum tells each of their stories in turn.
