Geology

Shoshone and the Death Valley region are home to world class geology, and draw geologists from across the globe for research and study. Here at the epicenter of it all, we are proud to showcase the long, fascinating and sometimes baffling tale told by our local rocks.

Stroll through our “Walk of Time” display and view the strata from “Gneiss to Gravel Fanglomerate” – from the oldest to the youngest, a mere 10 million years old. Our collection also includes samples, notes, and instruments from pre-eminent Death Valley geologists Benni Troxel and Lauren Wright.
